Fun Times

One of my favorite things to do is crochet. I learned right after my grandmother died, my senior year of high school because I wanted to learn in her honor. She had tried to teach me when I was in middle school the same time my other grandmother tried to teach me to knit. Man it got confusing! :-) I started out small and did scarfs and hot pads, but I have slowly started to finish some blankets.

Check out this new baby blanket!

And the mother to be with the beautiful blanket!

Ground Steak for $0.36 a pound -- Delivered to your door

FYI -- Apparently too many of us frugal people got in on the deal and now the minimum is being reported as spending $100. So I'm sorry for those of you who didn't jump at the chance for cheap meat. Mine says it was shipped -- I'll let you know if/when I get it.

This is one of the best deals I've gotten in a while. I first read about it at imommies.com and then at http://www.moneysavingmom.com/then I tweaked it a little. I was able to get 14 Omaha burger patties, a cutlery set, and a cutting board shipped for only $1.98. You can too.

Here's how:
1. First go here and register for Geico Privileges. You don't have to be a Geico customer. Within an hour or so they will send you an email with a gift card code for $25 off any Omaha purchase.
2. Then click thru this link and click on the coupon code that says "Free hamburgers, cutlery, and cutting board". It should be the second link.
3. At Omaha steaks put anything into your cart that equals at least $12.99. I ordered the 8 5 oz. Omaha Steaks Burgers.
4. Go to checkout. It will add in $13.99 for shipping but your $25 code from Omaha will take it off.
5. You can even pay with paypal funds if you want!
6. My total was $1.98.

This is amazing because if you calculate it out I'm getting ground steak for $0.36 a pound delivered straight to my door.

I should be receiving this on the 24th or earlier. I'll definatly be writing a review when I get this!

E.L.F. Makeup

Wanted to let you all know that I received my E.L.F. make-up in the mail and am very excited to start using it, but I actually received a review on one of my posts of this makeup and wanted to share it with you!

Coupon Queen,I tried this makeup and I love it! I usually use Clinique, Ester Lauder or Clarins which are very pricey. The mineral blush and eye makeup (which was a little more --$5 and $3) are incredible! I am a redhead with very fair skin. I ordered the elegance and sweet eyeshadow colors which are very light. The blush is "Joy" which is very light pink (The colors they show for both are not accurate. Anyway, they look wonderful, natural, and the liquid makeup is very light feeling. The brushes are worth a great deal more than $1--they are soft and professional. I recommend everyone jumping on board and getting some while it is sooo cheap!

Hope this will help some of you decide whether or not to check it out. I'll let you know as soon as I try mine out, but I agree with the brushes comment, I haven't used them yet, but they look AMAZING!

Cheap Makeup

I got this from a friend, and they told me that Nordstrom was making all of their makeup $1 because they were changing the logo. Do I know if that is correct --- NO. But what I do know is that you can get many items for a dollar or even 15 items for $15 at http://www.eyeslipsface.com/ You have to check it out, it has some amazing products! If you spend $15 make sure and type the coupon code CAROLINA in, because you can save $7.50.

So here's what I did: I found 15 items that I liked. I put them in the cart, I then used the code CAROLINA, and after shipping I still got my 15 items for $14.45. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Anyway -- I'll let you know about the makeup when I get it, but if nothing else it could make great stocking stuffers. Check it out and give me your feedback!

4 Things

My cousin Jamey tagged me on his blog to write 4 things that I hate to admit. Well I can't not do this so here goes nothing.

1. I hate to admit that if I could I would never wear make-up, throw my hair up in a ponytail, and wear sweats or athletic shorts and a T-Shirt everyday for the rest of my life.

2. I hate to admit that I'm addicated to finding the best price at all costs. This means I spend a WHOLE lot of time with my coupons and my sales ads.

3. I hate to admit it, but I love getting mail. Any kind at that!

4. I hate to admit it, but I love to act like I'm a racecar driver when driving ANYWHERE! Watch out Southeast MO!

So I have to tag some people: Beth, Sam, and Bret -- its your turn since you guys haven't posted in forever!!

My New Favorite Thing to Do!

Like any other thing that I do, I get so excited and want to share it with the world! :-) My new favorite thing to do is paint pottery. I've been super excited and have now had the opportunity to do it twice, in two very different places. It is so relaxing and you get a great product at the end.

Here's my 1st attempt -- It's a "Watermelon Mixing Bowl." This was in Fairview Heights, IL

Outside

Inside

My 2nd attempt took place in Cape Girardeau, MO and it is a cupcake cookie jar.

I think they look amazing and I had a great time doing it! Don't be surprised it Christmas presents are made at the pottery place! Although it isn't the cheapest thing to do (shocking I know), it makes me feel great, and like I'm actually creative!

Hope you are having a fantastic week!

Better Picture

Thought I would blog again now that I have a better picture of me -- let me know what you think!

$8.00 Perscription Glasses

So here is my newest find: Zenni Optical. I needed new glasses, but have been putting it off and off. I didn't need them bad enough to drop $100-150 on them, so when I was researching some of the ways to save money and found this, I just had to give it a shot. I picked out some glasses hoping that they would fit (you have to figure out how wide your eyes are [pupil to pupil]). I got them today ($12 after s/h). I LOVE THEM. For this price I could have a pair for everyday of the week and you can even get sunglasses for just a few dollars more. You have to check it out. You'll love the stuff that you find! The picture isn't great, but I thought you would all be interested in seeing just the type of glasses I got. They even came in a nice case with a lens cloth. I really like them, and they are my actual prescription (my others were from when I was 16, so it had been a couple of years. These are actually the $8.00 ones too. You can get ones that cost more, but why? Take the time to check them out!

Print Vista

Take a few minutes out of your day today and check out http://vistaprint.com/ This site is absolutely amazing. Sign up for the newsletter and they'll start sending you AMAZING deals on their products. While there may not be many templates to choose from. You can get almost anything for free. I've printed 250 business cards, 100 postcards, and a mailing stamp, and I've only paid for shipping. They do quality products, and I'm very pleased to hand out my business card. Buy one thing, and then you will see what I'm talking about. You won't ever have to pay for anything; just wait for the sales to come to your inbox. If you want to see the products I'm more than happy to show you! But you'll be impressed...so check it out!

My First Post!

Many people have asked me about the great deals that I get week after week, so I thought I would use this blog to share some of those things, and if you have ones of your own, feel free to leave those in a comment!

So here goes nothing:

The September Issue of "All You" that you can pick up at Wal-Mart has TONS of savings. Literally you can get a free box of Wheat-Thins, free Kraft American Cheese Slices, free hot dogs, free crystal light, and free Kraft dressing. All you have to do is buy 3 Kraft products each. Low and behold I bet you didn't know that Kool-Aid is a Kraft product. So if you buy 3 of the 20 cent Kool-Aid packets and you can get one of the above items for free. Its amazing! There are also a bunch of other coupons that will save you a bundle. I used quite a few on Sunday and saved almost $19.00 just from coupons.

Sign up for Pillsbury.com and BettyCrocker.com newsletters. Not only will they send you great recipes, but they'll also allow you to print online coupons. These have saved me so much money and they come straight to your mailbox.

Next, this is a little obvious, but get the Sunday paper from a large city. i.e. St. Louis. This will allow you a lot more coupons than if you pick up a regional paper.

Check walmart.com once a week and under In Stores, select Free Samples. This is updated weekly and will allow you to check out different products before you have to go buy an entire box or package.

Off topic a little, if you get an account with I-Tunes, weekly (I believe Mondays), they give away two free songs. There are some pretty lame ones at times, but I've gotten some really great songs for free.

On Sunday mornings I get online and check out three ads - Staples, Target, and Walgreens.

Staples has been running great ads - especially for teachers. This past week I walked out of Staples for $.91, and a full bag of goodies. Just for walking in I could pick up 10 2-pocket folders, 3 packages of pencil top erasers, and 3 hand held pencil sharpeners for free. Then pencil case for 5 cents, and 4 packs of glue sticks were $.25. So I had a full bag for next to nothing. While I may not use the erasers and sharpeners myself -- they are a great way to give my students rewards.

Target has some great deals, but not near enough as Staples or Walgreens.

Walgreens has also been doing some great deals. When you walk into Walgreens they usually have the flier there and also the Easy Saver Catalog. Two things that you should get to know very well.

Their flier usually has store wide coupons that have some awesome deals and usually during the month some of the things that are listed in the Rebate Booklet go on sale so you can get an even better deal for your money.

Rebate Booklet - The Walgreens EasySaver catalog. These are usually located next to the weekly store flier displays at your local store. You'll want to make sure and grab one on your next shopping trip. The monthly EasySaver catalog usually includes a few free after rebate items for the month and also a number of other rebates they are offering for the month. Some of the items listed in the booklet which are not free after rebate at their normal price will usually go on sale one week during the month and will then be free after rebate at the sale price.

In order to take advantage of the rebate deals, you'll need to go to the store and buy the items listed, paying out of pocket. Then, you'll fill out the simple rebate form and send it in along with your receipt with the price you paid circled. (Or you can now do it online and it is so much better. Faster, Cheaper, and Simpler)

You can choose to have the rebate sent back to you in the form of a check or a gift card. Unless you are not planning on shopping at Walgreens more than one time, you should always choose to have your rebate put on a gift card. Why? Well, for one, you get 10% extra for choosing a gift card so this will usually cover the cost of the stamp to send in the rebate, plus any tax you paid on the items.

Best of all, once you've sent in your first rebate request and gotten your gift card with the rebate plus 10% on it back, you will never need to spend a penny more out of pocket at the store! You can just use your gift card to buy the rebate items, send in your rebate form and they'll recharge your gift card with the rebate amount plus 10% and you can roll it over and over month after month.

It usually takes around 4-6 weeks for your first rebate to be processed and for you to receive your gift card. Once you have the gift card and just need them to recharge it, it normally takes 2-3 weeks. They'll send you a postcard saying your rebate $$ have been added to your gift card. You can also always
log in to their website at any time to check on the status of your rebate.

The EasySaver catalog also includes a number of store coupons which are good all month.

There are also a couple of websites that I've grown to LOVE. Check these out and save big!
